Location: Gilbert, Arizona
STE studied the three existing 3000A, 480V, 3 phase, Service Entrance Sections (SES) and the facilities power usage, need for emergency power and its reliability. STE determined that the facility was using less then 50% of the available electrical capacity and that there were substantial utility penalties for under utilization. We were able to analyze the loads and consolidate the three services into two SESs and reduce the ampacity of each to 1600Amps. The two remaining SESs had 1600A ATSs cabinets installed which connected the facility to a new 1750KW standby emergency power generator. The owner reduces his electrical cost, saved penalty fees and the two tenants, Godaddy and B of A both received adequate reliable back up power systems.
Client: Banner Health IT Department
Location: Various Valley Hospitals
STE was hired to review various projects that were under design and construction to verify that the new facility designs were appropriate for the applications. Several of the new hospital MDF and IDF room designs were determined to be over-designed, extremely complicated and without the desired reliability that Banner needs for there IT systems. STE scheduled meetings with Banner IT, networking, security, TV and other systems personnel. We went through each of there needs and power requirements room by room, equipment by equipment to develop realistic power needs for each MDF and typical IDF room.
STE was then contracted to develop a prototype design with various options that could by used and modified for each new facility. Two different yet similar designs were developed with various possible options accounted for. The resulting designs were very reliable, cost effective and extremely flexible for the clients needs.
